Favorite Singalongs?

Postby Frau_Blucher » Fri Feb 13, 2004 11:59 am

Anybody have some? You know, not necessarily your absolute favorites, but songs that come up when you're in the car alone, and you can't help but to bust out in song or air-guitar? I don't what makes them so catchy - easy or catchy lyrics, great guitar riffs or bass lines?? Here's some of mine...if you look over at the dork jamming along in the car next you, it could be me!

The Alarm - Sixty Eight Guns
Bollock Brothers - My Way
The Jam - Carnation
Squeeze - Pulling Mussels
The Cars - My Best Friends Girl
Mink Deville - Just Give Me One Good Reason
Elvis Costello - Peace, Love, and Understanding
Joe Jackson - Is She Really Going Out With Him?
Plimsouls - Million Miles Away
The Dream Academy - Love Parade
The Ramones - We Want the Airwaves
The Smiths - There Is a Light That Never Goes Out
Stranglers - Walk On By (air guitar!)

and of course Toy Dolls with Nellie the Elephant

Gigantor!!! Yet another long-lost neural link reconnected by you guys. Man, anyone have this?

PS. I'm glad to see more punk attention. We were a little weak in that category in the quiz...

Remembering this old thread and thinking it died a premature death. I'm sure there must be tons of other dorks like me madly singing along in their cars to their favorite songs. Any others? Today for me it was "Alone Again Or" by the Damned and "Urban Str

Hmmm, my taste in singalongs has remained markedly consistent from 9th grade (1980) to the present day:
Ramones, I Wanna Be Sedated,
Clash, I Fought the Law

And I guess I will have to admit to "Dancing with Myself" as another one (and no, there is no

Joyously, loudly, and off-key, the songs that always got me singing and air-guitaring were:

"In a Big Country" - Big Country
"Nothing Bad Ever Happens to Me" - Oingo Boingo
"Love My Way" - Psychedelic Furs
"Let the Good Times Roll" "Shake It Up" - C

Chumbawamba - Tubthumbing* (I will admit to being very drunk sometime around '98 and singing this song in a pub with my fellow drunkards, for that reason alone I claim this as a past singalong, all though I really hate the song now)
