Very gay but very much in the closet. So much so that HE doesn't even realize it!

Heh I got that on vhs. (It was used and for a $1, so worth the comic value.)

That guy is a disgrace to heavy metal. It was so obvious he was gay, with the outrageous leather and excessive spikes.

Why a disgrace to heavy metal? Because he's gay?

More because he's so flamboyant. He'd have been better off in a hair metal band.

What is this for a topic ???

If being a singer has anything to do with what they're 'doing' in their private time. [:0]

I would like to rephrase the question into what singer-that-waters-his-plants-regularly you like most ? [xx(]

PS. To not spoil this party, I'll have to agree with what the Pistols said to their southerns state audience. S0 any cowboyband will probably be a good contender in this competition. [B)]

Don't forget "Homosapien" by Pete Shelly, a great 80s anthem. The song was banned by the BBC for explicit reference to gay sex, which didn't stop it from becoming enormously popular in dance clubs in Europe and North America. Pete Shelley started to open up about his sexuality at this time which had been implied in many of the Buzzcocks songs. Shelly was one of the great 'love song' writers of his day, a genius at expressing the ambiguity of feelings that goes along with relationships/ emotions/ sexuality. The verse goes:

I'm the shy boy, you're the coy boy
And you know we're Homosapien too
I'm the cruiser, you're the loser
Me and you sir Homosapien too
Homosuperior in my interior
But from the skin out I'm homosapien too
And you're homosapien too
And I'm homosapien like you
And we're homosapien too

The lyric called into question by the BBC was "Homosuperior in my interior"... go figure..

I remember hearing back in the mid-80's that Michael Stipe was Bi . Wasn't Natalie Merchant his girlfriend at one point?

I always wondered about the Smiths - Morrissey in particular. The song "This Charming Man" always seemed a little overtly gay.

I'm a little shocked Bob Mould is Gay ! I never heard that one until this thread.

Neil Tennant and Fred Schneider are pretty obvious!

Although I still think it's an off topic, I never knew that Pete Shelley was gay (and that changes nothing). Just wanted to say that Homosapiens was a great hit in The Australian charts and the dancefloor. Actually: in dutch language 'gay' means 'homo'. I was wondering then, but was aware of the term homo sapien (being not a complete illiterate [:D])

To the above poster who says that Rob Hatford of Judas Priest is a disgrace to heavy metal, whatdafuckever. Early Judas Priest still kicks major ass and their worst was far better than the best hair metal had to offer.

As I said in my original post in this thread: What does it matter? Who cares waht anyone does in the bedroom (or wherever the mood strikes)?

As for Bob Mould, it's kinda funny. Both he and Grant Hart were well-known in Minneapolis for trying to pick up punk boys at parties in the early 80's. What makes it funny is that Greg Norton (bass player in Husker Du) had the stereotypical "gay" moustache, yet he was the het of the band.

Judas Priest/Rob Halford... best comming out press conference ever...
"I'm gay, like you people didn't already know that". "British Steel" still kicks ass 20+ years on.
