FYI that Mini Pops are in the midst of a nice comeback, touring as speak in the UK with nice new Dutch band Rats in Rafts. A great twofer gig for those in the UK.

these might be more 80's Nederpop, but I think some NW feel too

LOved and still do the old albums that Gruppo Sportivo put out back in their day.They were very heavily influenced and you can hear it in a song of theirs called Superman,by Frank Zappa and The Mothers.That haevy organ in the song tends to sound that way for sure.But I like them on their talent alone as well.I even bought a DVD of theirs awhile back,with some live video footage,plus their music video collection.

What surprised me for the first time about this DVD was how the whole band spoke in English the whole time,without speaking Dutch the whole time.I guess they know alot more English than most bands from over there,and have no trouble speaking it at all? Because most bands from Holland tend to only sing in English,but talk Dutch only.Gruppo speak both,and on the DVD speak alot more English,than one would expect of them.

Maybe the DVD was filmed abroad - this would explain why the band talked English inbetween the songs. Gruppo Sportivo were also popular in Germany, for example, and played there a lot.

Generally, the Dutch speak English very well. Half of the TV shows they see are in English (with subtitles) and of course, they learn it in school. It used to be British English, but now American English dominates.
