Heard Aztec Camera "Oblivious" while on hold with our local Petco to see if Miss V's food was in stock. With the price of gas, I got tired of driving over there to find out the shelf was bare...better to call for free and pester the kids that work there.

And I imagine they play 'The Sun and the Rainfall' after the weather?

Just heard the all-strings version of 'Hong Kong Garden' over the closing credits on an episode of Nova. I guess it would be stranger if they'd used the original version, but still surprising...

The Bangles on Dancing with the Stars earlier tonight. Okay, maybe not that surprising-- an '80s band cashing in on more scraping of the cultural barrel-- but at least disappointing.

ps I wasn't actually watching it-- the girlfriend had it on. OK?

This week Bluebeard by Cocteau Twins played while I was eating breakfast at a Residence Inn in Southern California.
I thought that was very cool.

Digging this thread back up. My wife was shopping at H&M a little while back, and they played "Step Up" off Devo's latest album. I can't imagine that anyone in the store's target demographic had actually heard it before ...

I thought it was completely weird eating dinner in a restaurant and hear R.E.M. - (Don't Go Back To) Rockville. Pretty weird. Walk into Nordstrom the very next day and first song playing is R.E.M. - (Don't Go Back To) Rockville. What the Hell? Just seems like it could have been 10 other R.E.M. songs...

Lou Reed's "Perfect Day" performed by the contestants on the X-Factor tonight, a full-on tribute to him in fact. I guess it's for all the closet Velvets fans and/or smack-heads in the audience...?

Necro-ing again. Heard "After The Snow" by Modern English in an Old Navy in NYC. Only time I've heard any of their other songs in public.

I was staying in the dorm of Hamburg University 6 years ago and one morning I saw a priest talking with some chinese students while I was going to shop for buying cereal for the breakfast. I had a Depeche Mode shirt on which I bought several years ago during a concert and when I was returning back the priest saw me and yelled like ''Depeche Mode! Cool!'' lol. I was shocked, a priest who likes Depeche Mode :D We had a little conversation there and he invited me to visit him in church one day. A week later I found him in his room in the church and as I enter the room I heard Modern Talking playing inside! It was one of the weirdest things I've ever witnessed in my life. I mean what next, Jesus and the Mary Chain concert in a chapel? :D After many years when I returned back in order to buy commercial real estate in Hamburg I found the priest and gave a Depeche Mode shirt as a gift. So far he is the coolest priest I've ever met :D
Video killed the radio star.
