Ruby Tuesday's system played The (English) Beat's "Twist and Crawl."

Not New Wave, but very a surprising story I would like to share here - A dollar store I went to had a system that had Manic Street Preacher's "The Everlasting" in it's play list.

8:30 this morning, walked into the grocery store to Bela Lugosi's Dead. Guess the midnight crew must have forgot to turn off their music.

I heard "Save It For Later" at the outlet mall last weekend. Funny, I thought they wanted you to spend it now.

The local bowling alley plays nothing but 80's music. Usually the same tired hits but sometimes they'll throw on something cool like XTC's senses working overtime or Gang of Four's i love a man in a uniform. The other day I even heard The Call's let the day begin. Can't say i've ever heard that one in public before.

The Dollar Tree plays all sorts of great music, and may '80s New Wave tunes as well.

While doing some grocery shopping at Trader Joe's tonight I heard U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday" with many patrons and TJ workers whistling along (out loud)!

Then while at Bristol Frams (minutes later), which just opened last week (finally one in my town!), they had Scritti Politti's "Wood Beez" in their music mix, very interesting...

My local grocery store is always playing new wave music, some pretty obscure out there stuff at times.

In northern Phillipines 2004 getting emergency dental work in the middle of nowhere and the dentist has ministry's first album playing on a record player player! Turns out he went to dental school in NY in the early 80's and his roomates brother was an intern at WLIR and used to give him promo records from the station.[;)]

Nothing like a picking up an Rx and hearing:

The ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in
Engines stop running, the wheat is growing thin
A nuclear error, but I have no fear
'Cause [b]I just picked up my perscription at Walgreens![:D]

Eating at Islands, an upscale(?) hamburger/drink joint, mixed in with today's hits I was surprised to her The Smiths' "Big Mouth Strikes Again" and The Cure's "The Lovecats."

Made my day! [:)]

My teenager was watching Gossip Girl. The mom on it was having a flashback to the 80s. Voila...Freur's Doot Doot on network television. [8D]
