Aussie new wave video compilation............

Postby jetboy » Sun Mar 14, 2004 10:13 pm

I have around 80-90 episodes of the mid 70s-mid 80s Aussie music show 'COUNTDOWN'. Almost every band that toured here during this period appeared on the show, but more importantly alot of Aussie bands also appeared on it. This is particularly interesting as a lot of these bands didn't make video clips. Bands like MEO 245, Dugites, La Femme, Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons, The Hitmen, Models, James Freud etc performed on the show, as well as the usual suspects Mi Sex, The Reels, Mental As Anything. Icehouse, Mondo Rock, Real Life. Psuedo Echo etc etc. I also have quite a few promo videos as well from the era. There are some real cool (as well as corny 80s) videos on these tapes, and all in excellent condition.
I'm considering making a compilation video of just interesting New Wave related stuff from this period, and trading it with others. Would anyone be interested??
Any bands you'd like to see included??

I'd be interested if it's on DVD. I know it would likely be in the PAL format, but I've got a converter. I'm about to begin archiving music videos to DVD myself.

I'm also looking to get a DVD burner soon, so hopefully I can put it to disc instead. I also have a convertor if required, but I'll burn any DVDs I make to play in all regions. Meanwhile, I'll scan all my tapes and list a few of the more interesting clips

The Hitmen did that song "Didn't Tell The Man"...Rob Younger from Radio Birdman was the singer for The Hitmen...if memory serves right...

Rob Younger never sang for the Hitmen, but former Radio Birdman guitarist Chris Masuak served time with the band, as did former Saints drummer Ivor Hay. Here's a link to the complete list of Johnny Kannis/Hitmen releases & personnel;
