I remember when 808 State released 'Pacific' and one of the magazines labeling it as 'new age techno'...making a big deal how they were merging two big (at the time) current genres.

This song is the first time I'd heard Psyche, which just happened to be on Brave New Waves: "insatiable"

Back in the early 90s, I used to refer to trance as being "modern classical" :D .

Back to BNW, I had heard Sarah McLachlan's Vox from somewhere, but it wasn't until I heard "Touch" on Brave New Waves that I bought the album.

I don't think this one has been posted yet. It sounds a little cheesy to me now, but there's no way i'd want to be without this 12" in my collection.

When Brent Bambury was hosting Brave New Waves, the guy behind the scenes was Kevin Komoda, who was in the band Rational Youth. One of their hits was Cite Phosphore (or the English version, City of Light). In the 2000s, this song was covered by the Quebecois teen group, Standing Waltz. I much prefer this version, which is edgier.

Wimpy version :) , by Rational Youth:

Tapps - Runaway with My love.... it's along the same lines of Canadian synth Disco. Good tune!

To celebrate Canada's 150th birthday ...

Yes, I grew up in a backward town in British Columbia (although not Kelowna, where the Grapes hail from).

I first heard the Grapes when I bought the cassette "September Bowl of Green", at Vancouver's legendary store, A&B Sound, late in 1986. I was into Nettwerk, having heard Skinny Puppy, Chris and Cosey, and Severed Heads, and I love the cover of this album, so picked it up without knowing anything about what they sounded like. Surprise! I didn't expect the jangly guitars, but I grew to love the album, as well as "Treehouse". I pretty much stopped following them after that, although I do have several of their later releases, thanks to the garage sales that Nettwerk had a few years ago. $2 CDs :D .

The Arrows is good stuff. Talk Talk is from their second album The Lines are Open, first album called Stand Back and it contained singles "Say It Isn't True" and "Meet Me In The Middle"...
