But only ONE can be the BEST

And that would have to be INXS in 1985 @ The Hollywood Palladium on The Swing tour with Bang Bang opening up. I've been to a LOT of concerts, but that one was the best.

Wow, brings back the memory of an unknown INXS (circa 81/82?) opening for Adam and the Ants at the Long Beach Colliseum. Adam was great but all anyone could talk about was "that cool guy with the young Mick Jagger machinations".

Taking a cue from the always inventive Frayonator, I was just damned curious to see what my first post was. After lurking for a whole ONE DAY, I guess I just came out blabbing and have never stopped!

...AND I never really answered his question. It sounds insane, but I'm gonna have to say New Order THIS YEAR at Hammerstein. It was glorious - just to have heard snippets from their entire catalog as well as their great new songs, with all the perspective of their history and my history of liking them from a wee noob to a 40s father of three, to have net the lads afterwards at the stage door, to hob-nob at the Hiro Ballroom, listen to Hooky's DJ set, meet Interpol, grab promo CDs, wake up hungover with a partially eaten sandwich next to my bed, then go to work the next day through the terrible headache, horrible Lincoln Tunnel traffic, the smelly New Jersey Turnpike...and NOT caring a bit about anything else at the time 'cause I was blaring the glorious promo disk Krafty at full blast and rocking out in my own little world! Aaaah, da memories.

Fun? Curiosity? Reminisce? Spark a chat? Draw out puzzling replies? All of the above? Whatever.

I saw them in early '86 on the Listen Like Thieves tour. You can read my story of that evening here:
