Hey gang, found a gem.

For those who were around the Puget Sound in the early '80s, there was one shining moment of New Wave goodness on the airwaves - KYYX.

I went looking for any KYYX tribute streaming stations that are still online (all of the old stations are gone now, and pretty much all of the fan sites too - sigh). Ran across a reference to the swan-song tape (the tape actually didn't get distributed until AFTER KYYX as a New Wave station had died) that KYYX produced -- "Local Heroes and New Faces" -- and, lo and behold, someone actually has the entire thing posted on a site!!!

Very cool-there were stations flying the flag for "new wave" and some of them reported to the College Media Journal. In Central Wisconsin,l we just had the college radio station I djed for.

I gotta say I thought KYYX was some obscure memory maybe an acid flashback. I did not think there were too many people that remember that station.
I gotta say I was pissed off to find out that the Canadian broadcasters helped to force it off the air because of its format creeping into Canadian airspace and market.
Usually I would think the USA would tell them to go fuck themselves but no. The format change for the wildly popular radio station was beaten down because of the control of mainstream.
These Companies CBS Broadcasting, Sony, BMG own a market share that they make back selling popular music and getting a kickback from the record companies.
Well now that were aged we dont need a lesson on greed and censorship so I will Not shut up.
I was in my tiny New Westminster flat overlooking the bridge when I discovered KYYX by a fluke of nature. I found that moving my receiver next to the window I could pull it in loud and clear.
Steve Rabow you were my hero. You pushed the envelope.

I have decided that there shall be a reckoning...
I am plotting Pirate revenge and in January Pirate Radio KYYX is going back on the air.
I have found a lot of marginalized music from that era as well as new independent music that deserves air time(Pirate Airtime).
Also I have mobile transmitters in three major cities and the power of the internet for a little FCC payback.
I am collecting music from that era and in that scheme. Looking for contributors. Old radio call signs anything I can get my hands on.
