A pretty good representation of the early 80s alternative scene, mo?

What compilation would you produce if you had unlimited means?

That would be a hell of a compilation (and a hell lot of licensing work...). Obviously would love to see that, so if you gonna invest the money, I'll buy a copy [:D]. Seriously, would be one of the best things ever released.

I'd probably release a boxset of everything that was released on Reset Records (Vince Clarke's & Eric Radcliffe's label).
Or I'd go for a produced by Midge Ure compilation with selected material from 1980-1985.

It's not that obscure but I wouldn't mind a release of rereleases - an Oglio rerelease box set. Some these CDs go for $50-200 now.

Killer Pussy - Bikini Wax
Red Rockers double
Wire Train double
20/20 double
Peter Godwin - Images of Heaven
Various Sparks
Freud - Doot Doot (that's right bitches!)
Not sure if Plimsouls Plus was an Olgio...feels like it should have been.

Bunch others I'm sure.

Nice idea, profpike. I actually own all these flexi-discs, save for the first two on your list; all these flexi's were for subscribers only. Boy, was I saddened when I got a letter in the mail stating that Trouser Press had ceased publication and the more mainstream Record magazine would be the replacement.

Your list is actually missing one song! On the flipside of one one of them (I believe maybe Barry Diamond, I'm too lazy to dig them out tonight) was a song that they had printed "Do Not Play this Side"...ie, a mystery song! And it was great. It took several months before I discovered that it was "Talking to a Stranger" by Hunters and Collectors. Why it was never listed I don't know, maybe a liscensing issue or maybe a ploy to garner attention.

I think an interesting CD reissue would be the Epic Nu-Discs all put on one disc.
