WLIR movie

Postby rewind » Thu May 16, 2013 2:49 am

Fans of New York's late, great WLIR will be excited to learn that a documentary is being produced about the radio station, "Dare To Be Different: The Movie." It includes the participation of many of the DJ's, label executives and artists of the era.

The producers are currently seeking backing to complete the film and have some cool incentives for contributors.

So if you want to be part of this historic project, check this out:

Sad to see a world without radio stations like WLIR anymore. It was truly one of the best stations in the modern era.

If there's anyone in the know about WLIR's year end countdowns for most of the 80's, there are people still looking for these. It seems only '87 and '88 are available on the net.

Long time no see, NWOers!

Just had the producer of the WLIR movie on my show so if you want the skinny on how the movie's coming along ...

Thanks to Wormster's tapes for some of the clips used throughout this. [;)]

Right after that interview I had Jane Badler on from the 80's sci-fi series V. Totally unrelated I know, but what the heck....

Great interview Ghosty!
FWIW: I was fortunate to be invited by a friend who started one of the most popular WLIR Facebook pages to sit in for the last interview session with Ellen here on LI a few weeks ago. It was a totally SURREAL experience sitting in front of a camera and speaking extemporaneously & off the cuff for OVER AN HOUR about our LIR memories/experiences. All this with none other than DENIS MC'NAMARA sitting just out of frame with this Sh*t eating grin on his face, enjoying every anecdote we put out there. Got to chat with him afterwards as well and both Ellen and he were genuinely touched by our candor. Really looking forward to seeing this film when it is completed! [8D]
