new book on MTV VJs

Postby oldnewwaver » Wed Jun 12, 2013 2:27 pm

just picked this up and read it
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/vj-nina ... 1451678123

great book with insight into the beginnings of MTV and it's gradual success
but the best part of the whole book is hearing it from their perspective on the fame and fall of the original 5 VJs
cool glimpse into the music world including a lot of new wave related artists

who knew that JJ Jackson's all time favorite 80's record was Avalon by Roxy Music??

it brought back fond memories of the early years of MTV when it focused on the music videos and they were cutting edge (so to speak)

I read the book also. I found it interesting all of the VJs fessed up about their drug use in the 80's . . . . . except Martha Quinn. Maybe she doesn't want to put all that on the page because she is a mother now? I just got tired of hearing about who Martha was dating and not getting any real dirt from her.

I must confess, I never knew that Mark Goodman hated Martha during the first few years. That was an eye opener.
