Many of my favorites have already been mentioned...except for Dan K. Brown from The Fixx!

There's… Derek Forbes… and everyone else. Lots of good bass out there [especially Karn], but honestly, I listen to the first seven Simple Minds albums now, and all I hear is the bass playing!

Why not a list?

Derek Forbes
Mick Karn
Tony Levin
Nick Beggs

<br>There's… Derek Forbes… [/quote]The guy who gave us a one note bass line. Yup, the bassline of "Waterfront" is just one note for the entire song. (D, if anyone's wondering.)

Great bassist. The intro to "Glittering Prize" where he plays that nice run before the verse is about as pleasurable as music can be.

But Forbes will always be noted for that one note bassline. What guts to attempt it and pull it off.

And that one note bassline is practically a clone of the one in The Doors' "Roadhouse Blues" minus the extra three notes on the fourth beat... but I still love it.

Hey, I hear that. Never thought of it. Pretty funny, actually. Simple Minds ripping off The Doors. And to think, the music press back then always called Echo And The Bunnymen Doors ripoff artists.
