Depeche Mode CD/DVD Box Sets Question

Postby Sean » Wed Aug 21, 2013 4:56 pm

I noticed that the 2006 album box sets with the cd/dvd are sometimes listed as SACD and sometimes they are not. Is there an audio difference between these releases? SACD vs. non-SACD

There's an audio difference only if you have an SACD player. I didn't do any listening tests, but in general, people say that you can't really hear a difference between 2-channel SACD vs a regular CD. My only comment is that the 2-channel SACD is way LOUDER, so technically, this should result in a better signal to noise ratio.

The original EU releases of the two disc sets were SACD/CD + DVD. They were later reissued as CD + DVD, with different catalogue numbers. US only released them as CD + DVD. If there's not much of a price difference, I would get the SACD versions.

Note that some of Sony's bluray players are now SACD compatible.
