Life In A Northern Town - Dream Academy

Okay, it's not new wave
And it's not about Kennedy (Nick Drake)
But it does mention him

Not at all new wave, but definitely about JFK: 'Warmth of the Sun' by the Beach Boys

Also let's not forget 'The Devil in Me' by John Wesley Harding.

And there's a song from around 1990 with the line 'Lee Harvey Oswald's brother's on the loose'. Thought it might be John Wesley Harding, but don't remember exactly... anyone know?

From Mojo June 2012: "On November 22, 1963, depressed upon learning of the assassination of President Kennedy, Brian Wilson and Mike Love assembled to write a melancholic ballad of strength and resilience in the face of despair. Rendering Love's bittersweet lost-love lyrics-- 'I cried when she said I don't feel the same way'-- in his purest, most aching falsetto, Brian, assuaged by the others, transcends the pain to deliver words of hope and comfort: 'Still I have the warmth of the sun within me tonight.'"
OK, maybe not explicitly about the JFK assassination per se... inspired by?

Just thought of another NW connection: at the press conference held with LHO, future BBC DJ John Peel is in the room. I think he was working at a Dallas radio station at the time, and had blagged his way into the press conference.
