Since today is November 25th -
A big thank you to Bob Geldof and Midge Ure for creating a Christmas song that captures the true, compassionate spirit of humanity. To give is the most rewarding gift. Recorded on the 25th of November 1984 and released four days later - Band Aid - "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

Still like singing along to this song this very day. Still try to impersonate all the singers too. very badly of course.. but it's fun.

You know it's Xmas when this starts getting played about the place.

Of course like any true 80's song, its a horrid subject of grief an despair, but masked with easy to listen to riffs and vocals.

This song is utter shit that killed New Wave. A complete artistic nadir of both its authors. Hate it.

[/quote]Considering the fact that it took Midge Ure all of one night to write and record the main part, and then went on to become the best-selling single of all time, I have to say that it was a pretty freakin' amazing accomplishment.

I heard it on the radio last night for the first time this season. I cranked it up and sang along, as always. It's a true classic, like it or not.

Thanks for that Mix!

So many extra 'clanging chimes of doom'... (it really highlights the dark undertone of 'bring out your dead')
