[blog] -> simple minds once upon a time prototype

Postby negative1 » Mon Jan 13, 2014 4:04 am

here's another blog i made last
year, with samples of alternate
versions and mixes of the songs
by simple minds.

this is using the DVD-A, to get the
alternate tracks from:

check it out.

taking a look at each song on ‘once upon a time’,

and using the DVD-A tracks, which contain vocals

and instrumental parts, and also using released

mixes and instrumentals to make new versions.

once again, this is NOT a replacement for the album,

but simply an experiment into how the tracks sounded

in different ways. there is a lot more emphasis on the

vocals. and although these tracks were very similar

to the final album, there was some minor changes

made for the surround sound mix.

one other note, is that the heavy use of back up vocals,

and singer robin clark, is mostly eliminated. i don’t

particularly like this album, and a lot of the tracks

were just plain, and overdone. it still has some good

songs on it. but i think it was definitely a step back

in their career. although commercially, it was probably

their biggest success. i’m sure you have more comments

on that.

enjoy the tracks, as we visit each one.

we will be starting of with the title track

'once upon a time' shortly.

enjoy
