I have it and it's excellent. Some fascinating and funny interviews.

my friend got this book, and hates it.

he said most of the comments are very negative, and that the interview and questions
do not do justice to the bands.

so take it for what it's worth.

i'm not getting it. it looked interesting, but now i don't want it.

my friend is a big 80's fan, and we have similar tastes. so i trust his opinion.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Each entry starts with comments by the authors (most are positive, a couple mildly negative), but the bulk of each song entry is by the artist. Each ends with a "Where are they now" section.

It's an enjoyable book. I don't consider it to be overly negative, but sometimes the negativity is justified. For example, Animotion wanted to be the new Fleetwood Mac, but their hits were written by Holly Knight and others. I don't think any sympathy or reverence is necessary.

well, thanks to half price books, and it being on sale for $5,
i decided why not.

i read the chapter on girls on film by duran duran and liked it.

also, the first few chapters about adam and the ants, gary numan, new order and abc are all pretty cool.

so i guess i'm giving the book a chance after all.

maybe it's not as bad as people have been telling me.
