This time it's to fight Ebola.

Bob Geldof and fellow singer-songwriter Midge Ure, the original Band Aid organizers, announced plans to re-record the single -- "Do They Know It's Christmas?" -- at a news conference Monday.

Given its the 30 years since the first one......it seems a reasonable bet it would surface again [there was "Band Aid 20" 10 years ago] just like it will emerge again in 2024 and 2034.

Ask Underworld to leak the multitracks of [Doot doot] that would be better than participating in this

Not interested, unless the original 12" mix is going to be on the CD single.

I thought it was pretty decent ... much better than Band Aid 20 ... so maybe I'll buy it :).

There's a certain lack of heart to this version. In the original, I still get goosebumps when the chorus launches into "Feed the world..." I don't get that emotional buildup here at all.

I blame Paul Epworth's bland production (and I usually like his work). Sounds like he tried to mimic the exact arrangement of the original, but forgot whatever it was that gave the original it's large, wall-of-sound feel -- the percussion perhaps?

Some performers here definitely stand out: Chris Martin, Ellie Goulding, Sinead, Seal, that guy from Elbow, Sam Smith... But Bono seems positively -- and uncharacteristically -- sedate, and I could do without Rita Ora's pretentious, Mariah-level melisma.

Geldof shaming Adele loses marks with me; if she doesn't want to do it, so what? She has more important things right now.

Just think, if those involved paid the correct amount of taxes for their country instead of squirrelling it away elsewhere then there would be no need for this single.
