any Stan Ridgeway and Wall of Voodoo fans?

Does any else here love this stuff?

I met Stan at this funky week long WAVE FEST/convention in Seattle in "83" on this night Oingo Boingo and Wall of Voodoo played. The other night was The Go Go's and some other band....seemed like most of the Artist were on the I.R.S label....hmmmmmm

Well not too long after Wall of voodoo's set I was in this room set aside for free video games and while I was blasting away at asteroids I look over to my right and there's Stan! playing the same game...I said Hey Stan great show tonight and what are you doing here....and He turns and says..."shhhh! and opened his overcoat and shows me his stage badge....I hate it back stage...too damn crazy" We laughed and I said I really like 'Call of the West' and he said If I like that I will love the next one! and shook my hand and said see ya later.

I guess that project he mentioned never came to be cuz they all broke up soon after that.

I have collected all of His solo stuff ever since.

I wish I could have the chance to co-write/Vocal with Stan just once!

He is sooo nuts!

How about that pitiful KARAOKE tune at the end of Holiday in the dirt! Man that was awesome!

Now, here's a real example of 'bridging the gap'. The brand new Frank Black album (due out in a month or so) has a handful of songs produced by STAN RIDGWAY!!! So, there's Stan from the '80s producing a guy who's band, the Pixies, were one of the hottes

Another old thread brought back to life.

Stan is great--love his sense of humour!!! I think my favorite is Roadblock.

Wall of Voodoo had one of the most original sounds of any new wave band. Try to find another album that sounds like Dark Continent, just try. My fave WOV tunes are:

Animal Day
Back in Flesh
This Way Out
Crack That Bell
Lost Weekend

Being the small-town Wisconsin boy I am-the first time I saw Wall of Voodoo was on the old "Evening at the improv" syndicated TV show. The cast included people like Julie Brown. While the show largely showcased comedy-it occasionally had bands-this is als

Definately better than black diamond. Worth the investment.

Like Stan, I want to take a 2 week vacation, 26 times a year (add it up).
"I'll Do It Tomorrow" has also given me words to live by.

My fave post-Ridgeway WOV tune is "Far Side Of Crazy".

"The Big Heat" is by far and away my favourite LP, just full of story songs.

The compilation "Songs That Made America Great" (something like that) is a decent collection.
