Hey, thought your blog was really well done. I really like the fact that you're not just picking the obvious songs by the obvious bands. Groups like Illustrated Man or songs like "mesepotamia" by B52's are not always found on the usual 'top new wave' run-downs. Refreshing!

Fortunately, I own the bulk of the records you're mentioning but haven't listened to many of them sadly since the 80's. I've gotten many pleasant reminders scrolling through your entries.

Don't get bogged down on the numbering/ranking. Continue to go from the gut....if the song you're excited about that particular day is a questionable entry into the "top 200", put it in anyway. You know damn well your "Top 200" is probably going to change constantly...

You obviously have good taste ---Nice work!

Thank you!

My list is in a big Google Sheet. I have been making changes constantly since April. The top 25 hasn't changed much, though. Aside from one or two tweaks.

I appreciate the kind words, hope you enjoy reading the rest of the list.

144 - Thompson Twins - The Gap

'

interesting thing to do, listing out the songs you like.
i enjoy reading them.
even songs i don't know..

about the thompson twins - the gap,
what makes you think 'the gap' wasn't a single, there were US, UK, and australian releases for the 7", and 12" remixes

The single peaked at #69 in the U.S., spending six weeks on the US Billboard 100.

https://www.discogs.com/Thompson-Twins- ... ster/85853

133: Duran Duran - Hold Back The Rain

also, for duran duran, 'hold back the rain', was the b-side for rio, so it got plenty of exposure,
and had several versions, and remixes....

Thanks for the info on The Gap. I am relying mostly on my own memory, I usually check sources for chart positions but I didn't remember it being a single. I appreciate the correction.

Yes, I do have the Night Versions 2CD set from DD and I believe Hold Back the Rain is on there in a different mix. I don't have my CDs handy right now though. Storage.

As for the blog, I remember years ago reading someone else's and really enjoying it. I hope you and anyone else who might be interested is enjoying playing the songs and maybe discovering something new. I always like when someone clues me into something I missed, maybe a hidden gem from the New Wave era. Feel free to give me any feedback you'd like, positive or negative.

if you check discogs, and wikipedia next time, you should be ok.
