Not a film, but a TV show...
Colin Hay (lead singer for Men At Work) doing a cameo for Scrubs.

You took my best example, which was Frankie in “body double”. The band was brand new, really not widely known at that point and the scene was just very bizarre—-as if thrown into the film on a dare. I saw the film at the theatre and couldn’t believe they were in it.
Pretty sure Plimsouls were in ‘Valley Girl’, but my memory of it’s a little hazy.

The Blasters in Streets of Fire
John Doe of X in Road House
Kid Creole and the Coconuts in Against All Odds
BauHaus in the Hunger
and yes the Plimsouls were in Valley Girl!

Missing Persons had a moderately substantial presence in a really obscure sexploitation film called "Lunch Wagon". Their tune "Mental Hopscotch" is heard a few times in the movie too.

Wasn't Curt Smith from Tears For Fears in some tv show a few years ago?
