Are they still around?? They made a push to re-release New wave stuff on CD years ago, but I have not seen anything from them for a while.

I believe Razor & Tie is still around, it looks like they still have their website up. Too bad that releases on that label seem to go out of print quickly, they carried some decent new wave stuff from what I've seen.

I was just at their website last week and ordered the two 20/20 reunion discs - 4 Day Tornado ('95) and Interstate ('98) - for five bucks each!:

Razor And Tie is doing really well right now, but their focus is TV compilations ("Goin' South," etc) and their very successful "Kidz Bop" line.

Oglio gave up on New Wave a long time ago, unfortunately.

One Way Records recently closed up shop.

Wounded Bird does some interesting reissues, although the packaging is always lousy and the sound is never remastered.

Thanks for the kind words! We were sort of forced out of the reissue business when the major labels started consolidated and made licensing more difficult. At the same time iTunes and other made it possible for the music fans to put together their own "Greatest Hits of the 80s" compilations. The world didn't need Oglio to tell them what they liked anymore. :-)

Casual Tone also went under... at least they closed their warehouse and it was difficult trying to find Drew Neumann's score for Aeon Flux[}:)]

Yup. I am a HUGE New Wave fan and I did all I could in the window of time I had before Rhino and the rest got into the 80s. When I released my first 80s comps there were 3 Priority titles and a few nice imports (Pop & Wave). By the time I was rolling Rhino has 15 Volumes on their main series and countless others. The competition was just too much for an indie label.

My other love is comedy so I started working that little niche. We still work with classic artists from time to time. We put out a couple Brian Wilson projects, a couple Cyndi Lauper projects and we are working on some new music from some of my favorite artists from the 80s. My label pretty much reflects my odd taste in music and humor. Bands like Barnes & Barnes and Sparks live right next to each other here at Oglio. :)

Nice to hear from you Carl! I had been wondering what happened to the new wave reissue portion of your label since the wonderful batch you issued in the mid-90's.

I recently tracked down both volumes of your "Hit The Perfect Beat" new wave compilations, in addition to the Peter Godwin cd. I already had the Red Rockers and Wire Train reissues, as well as a couple of your Christmas compilations.

Thanks for the great new wave reissues while they lasted!
