I've always been a big fan of Moev, and Skinny Puppy, and was wondering what other early new wave/industrial bands came out of Canada?

Rational Youth were amazing. Formed from a schism within Men Without Hats.

The EARLY Skinny Puppy stuff is also great, and really different from where they ended up. Back & Forth, Bites, and Remission are well worth looking out for.

The Tenants were great. When they broke up in 1985, guitarist Andy McLean formed 'Doubledare' with vocalist Wendy Landis. Their 1986 hit 'Date With the Past' was a HUGE hit in Canada of 1986. Sadly, it was their lone hit :(

I LOVE early Skinny Puppy! "Glass Houses" and "Smothered Hope" are my favorite industrial songs EVER. Very unusual tunes. They changed their sound a lot, and I stopped listening to them, but I always go back to their early stuff. Remission is massive!

Punky power poppers Diodes and also FM were a prog band, but had some avant garde-darky moments especially in their album''black noise''which is a crossover one.Don't forget that FM, were the first band of strange Nash the Slash, and his twisted violin coloured their sound.

Nash the Slash was very odd. Everytime I see the FM video 'Just Like You', it cracks me up. A man wrapped up in bandages playing the keyboard and singing LOL

Speaking of Nash the Slash, I'm trying to find a copy of "Magic in Your Eyes" (Was that by FM or Nash the Slash solo?) Does anyone have an mp3 of that, or a video perhaps, if one exists?

Edited to add, I'm also looking for some Neo a4 (Band from Edmonton, I believe). Both these treasures are proving difficult to find.

The Parachute Club, one of the many Canadian New Wave bands, got some minor hits with "Rise Up" and "At the feet of the Moon". Platinum Blonde had there share of sucess with "Crying Over You" and many others.
