Stay (The Second Time Around) [Solved]

<br>Just a stupid question: are you 100% sure the song's title is "Stay" or "Second time around"? Maybe it has nothing to do with "stay" at all. It's so strange nobody has identified it after 2 years... it really intrigues me.

I've had the same thought many times...a supposed title is all we've got to go on at this time.

The voice sometimes reminds me of the male singer of Cock Robin when I listen to "Just aroud the corner", but I couldn't find a song by Cock Robin that might be our song here...

It's not Cock Robin(I have all their albums)& probably not Peter Kingsbery, the lead singer.

Not our song, but here it is in case anyone needs a good laugh. It's so horrible you just have to hear it.

I was hoping that would be the right one. Guess not, but there's got to be someone out there in this world that knows this song we're looking for.

I wonder if "Listen" couldn't be a possible title (or part of the title) as well; it's a crucial, repeated word in the buildup to the chorus...since searches for "Stay" and "the second time around" have been completely fruitless, it's probably time to think about alternate titles...

Also: are we certain it's an 80s song?

Awhile back we mentioned this possibility and searched for among other things song s with the title "Listen, Listen to my heart, Don't Go", etc... But more searching cant hurt.

Its confirmed as either being from 1984 or 1986 by the guy who oriiginally recorded it from the radio.

In posting today New Releases...a light went off in my brain...quick looked at the list of NOTS and did not see Dollar on there...could this be it!

Dollar - Platinum Collection (Remastered)

Scheduled to release Tuesday, July 25, 2006

Track Listing:

Mirror Mirror (Mon Amour)
Give Me Back My Heart
Hand Held In Black & White
Videotheque
Give Me Some Kinda Magic
Second Time Around (Previously Unreleased) <<<<<<<----------------
Pink & Blue
Don't Change Your Life
Radio
Girls Are Out To Get Ya
Young Love
You Take My Breath Away
Takin' A Chance On You
Living A Life Of Dreams
Dangerous Blondes (Full Version) (Previously Unreleased)
Two Hearts (Previously Unreleased)
Hand Held In Black & White (Extended Version)
Give Me Some Kinda Magic (2006 Extended Remix)
Mirror Mirror (Mon Amour) (Demo) (Previously Unreleased)

Digitally remastered, lovingly compiled anthology from the Warner UK archives of a duo with 14 chart hits to their credit, including 4 smash hit singles written & produced by Trevor Horn- 'Mirror Mirror (Mon Amour)', 'Give Me Back My Heart', the epic 'Hand Held In Black And White' and futuristic 'Videotheque'. These great songs spin a tale of meeting, falling in love, breaking up & the postscript. Plus 2 more divine singles 'Takin' A Chance On You', a beautiful ballad hit from 1980 & 'You Take My Breath Away', a fun Caribbean affair that cruelly missed the charts at the time. Some album highlights include the lush psychedelic tones of 'Pink And Blue' while David surprises everyone with his rockier delivery on fan favourite 'Radio' and the single 'The Girls Are Out To Get Ya'. Also includes a newly discovered long version of 'The Second Time Around' from 'The Dollar Album' and the previously unreleased 'Two Hearts' which the duo entered in the 1982 Yamaha Song Contest in Tokyo.

Just found the lyrics for their version of Second Time Around and I don't think it's the one we are looking for:

Second Time Around
(Thereza Bazar/David Van Day)

They always said you were a shooting star
And you were heading straight for me
The world was ours to take we almost had it all
One year and you deserted me

So here we go again
The same old show again
You came back gave no warning
Look out heart you know I'm falling

Chorus
You said you wouldn't leave me
The second time around
You said you won't deceive me
The second time around
I know I'm gonna try don't take me for granted
You said you wouldn't leave me
The second time (second time) around

Your face is idolized all over town
But they don't know you like I do

So here we go again
The same old show again
You came back gave no warning
Look out heart you know I'm falling

Repeat chorus

So here we go again
The same old show again
You came back gave no warning
Look out heart you know I'm falling

You said you wouldn't leave me
The second time around
You said you won't deceive me
The second time around
I know I'm gonna try don't take me for granted
You said you wouldn't leave me
The second time (second time)

You said you wouldn't leave me
The second time around
You said you won't deceive me
The second time around

Great site here, truly. Nice to see other devout fans of this type of music. Now, if only this one could be solved, very interesting thread, not to mention this is an awesome song!

In light of how many people keep finding this site through Google, I think we should post the lyrics so the artist(s)/songwriter(s) can find them, stop by, and save us the work.

Walking to a blue sky
Winking on a rooftop
Listen to my heart go, "Don't go, don't go"
Listen to my mind go

Stay a second time around
Won't you please stay a second time around
Darling, won't you please stay a second time around
Oh, won't you stay a second time around

There, good. I'm sure those aren't so badly mondegreened that they won't find them. Now, sir (or madam, as the case may be), there's your lyrics. So pop on in and claim them already!

I though the first 2 lines were:
Talking to a blue sky
Thinking on a roof top

Good idea! Think you all figured out the correct lyrics! Hehe, I think we all agree to like the sound of this one, but after concentrating on the lyrics...well, they're pretty darn good and thoughtful as well! Awesome tune all around!

Yeah, that works. Hey, be glad I got that much right. Figuring out lyrics from muffled DDD files with sibilance isn't exactly my speciality.
