FRENCH 80's SCENE

Postby bob pompo » Wed May 24, 2006 10:10 pm

I have heard a lot about the French 80's New/Dark Wave Scene, but nothing in particular. Any info ?
What I can only recommend is a vinyl record of LITTLE NEMO, Turquoise Fields.

Not at all! Thanks! Can you, by any chance, inform me on Little Nemo personally ? I would like to hear your opinion.

I recently found the compilation "So Young But So Cold" which is a pretty good introduction to the French synth/New Wave scene.

I've listened to it quite a bit but I've never sat down and figured out who did what song. I know the title track is by Kas Product and is very good.

I've got an lp by Stinky Toys (probably more late 70's punk than 80's) who were from France....had a semi-hit with "Boozy Creed"....

Taxi Girl is awesome. Other cool French New Wavers:

Noe Willer
Desireless
Jeanne Mas
Francois Feldman
Jean Pierre Mader
Mylene Farmer

There's more though.

My fave Greek band from the early 80s is Fantastic Something. They had a lovely line in jangle-pop. "If She Smiles (it'll rain)" is by far their best track.
