Any album that doesn't have "God Blessed Video" on it is great by comparison.

A childhood buddy of mine had Alcatrazz's first album and made one mix tape after another with "Island in the Sun" on it. That song, too, was insufferable.

Most Rocshire artists died a deserved death after the IRS shut down the label and threw whatshisface and his wife in jail. But not Alcatrazz! They kept going and going and going...

At this point I'm going to bail out and say that I haven't got the foggiest what you're on about here though it does sound interesting. [?]

Does Iron Maiden count?

Probably "The Number of the Beast"

There's this one crazy muslim chick at work--white, scottish muslim. I don't have a problem with her beliefs, or anything like that. She's just out of her gourd. She mutters to herself, makes crass jokes, and worst of all, talks about private crap no one wants to hear about--like her and her husband's foreplay habits.

One night, me and a friend were getting into an elevator when she came on and started muttering nonsense to us. I turned to my friend, and said: "Woe to thee, oh Earth and sea, for the devil sends the beast with wrath, for he knows the time is short." She started giggling uncontrollably; she left me along for the next couple of months.

That is why I love "The Number of the Beast".

Joan Jett's cover of "Do You Wanna Touch Me" is pretty smokin'.

Which part? I'm always happy to elaborate. If you've forgotten the songs, here's a reminder...

Island in the Sun

God Blessed Video

(And in case anyone was wondering, there was a video for "God Blessed Video." I'm pretty sure God cursed it, though.)

You're forgetting I'm not American. Over here they didn't release anything, so it's only to be expected that the name draws a blank.

You're forgetting I'm not American, either. I just went through INS to pretend I am.

Alcatrazz were hardly mega-platinum in the U.S., and it's not as if Graham's discography is overwhelming. But point noted.

soooorry to bring back this topic, but got to name more....that 80's rock stuff was too great

TNT - 10000 lovers....someone already mentioned it...awesome voice, love that song

Some named Scorpions, yeah great. But how about Bonfire hmm, great melodic rock from Germany.... 1986 debut is superb, you pick a song

Or Survivor's fist-pumping Eye of the Tiger...

Alien - Brave New Love (featured on soundtrack to horror flick The Blob 1988).... Superb and rare Swedish Melodic Rock/AOR [:D]

Has anyone mentioned Endlessly by Joe Lynn Turner yet? That song is totally drenched with pure signature 80's passion and emotion. And I definitely mean that in a good way. Great Song.

i really cant think or that is digest this at the moment but off the top of my head these pop up.
its hard to decide stuff that isnt a specific style.

roy orbison-i drove all night. totally rocks.
wipers-over the egde.

ok i give everything i think of is to some level technically punk or goth or new wave or metal, theres not much just straight rock coming to mind, now the 60s garage scene would be a different story.

Big fan of the Wipers here. LOVE their Over The Edge album the best. "No One Wants An Alien" and "So Young" are my favourites. Funny, tho--it is kinda rock, but I always considered them punk. Their sound is hard to categorize.

Oh boy, I love all 80's music, so naturally a lot of it is rock, I'll try to only list some of my true favorites.

Billy Idol - Flesh For Fantasy (or just about anything by him)
Kenny Loggins - Danger Zone ~ sorry but you just can't deny this song[:p]
Cheap Trick - Mighty Wings ~ same thing, actually hell, the entire Top Gun OST is awesome, there I said it.
Honeymoon Suite - Burning in Love
Platinum Blonde - Not in Love (or any of their other songs)
Whitesnake - Still of the Night
Rainbow - Street of Dreams
Ratt - Lay it Down
Streetheart - Under My Thumb (waaaaayy better than the stones version)
Great White - Rock Me
Scorpions - No One Like You (or anything else by them)
and let's not forget:
Spectre General - Nothin's Gonna Stand In Our Way
and
Spectre General - Hunger
along with the rest of the Transformers soundtrack.

And technically not an 80's song, but possibly one of the best rock songs ever: Toto - Hold the Line

Also I'd like to point out that InvisibleMan gets tons of points for mentioning Tone Norum, that makes I think a grand total of 3 people now that have heard of her, she's waaaaaay under rated.

I've lately been listening to Fortune LP, and Fortune (Thrill of It Al)l is a great tune, not mentioned here so I guess obscure?

and in light of the recent Mad Max movie remake, gotta mention this great German band called Mad Max
Mad Max - Fly Fly Away (1984)
Mad Max - Stranger (1984)
