Garland Jeffries?

Postby newwavepopman » Thu Mar 11, 2004 5:52 pm

Whatever happpened to this guy? I liked a bunch of his albums and you just never seem to hear about him anymore. Is he even still alive? The last time I heard anything at all about Garland Jeffries was at least back in 1982 or so during his album "Guts For Love" and then he seemed to just disappear for good.As good as he was, he always seemed to be the type of a singer that never could make a breakthrough, and was just stuck in the underground in New York, and just never could make a commercial breakthrough,as good as his albums seem to be.

Even to this day he is pretty much forgotton about, except by the hardcore New Wavers like myself. But I guess those are very few and far between. His albums as much as I hate to say it,were never even put out on cd's at all.The only thing I saw recently was just some greatest hits cd,that doesn't even have half of his most memorable songs on it.Songs such as, R.O.C.K.,96 Tears,Dance Up,Fidelity, etc. If anyone knows anything at all on his whereabouts, please feel free to post something.Thank you. Please say that he is still alive.

My husband was/is an acquaintance of his. I remember we would always run into him at Veselka, at diner/restaurant on 2nd Ave., & E. 9th St. in NYC. He seems like a very nice guy, haven't ran into him in at least 5 years. Then he was working on somethin

FWIW, I just found a version of Wild in the Streets by Garland Jeffries and Bruce Springsteen from a 12/17/03 concert. Sure sounds he's alive and we

Garland Jeffries is going to be touring with "the Bruce Springsteen and Friends Tour" this summer beginning in June. Each act will go on for an hour, the order to change nightly. The "Don't Make Me Come Out There and Smack You" tour kicks off in June, and

I just recently found a cassette tape of his "Don't Call Me Buckwheat" album, and it was nothing like any of his past work.It was very unorganized as far as the music goes, and very watered down in my opinion.I guess his last great album has to be his "Guts
