REQ: Messengers - Singles

Postby synth_kaden » Wed May 08, 2013 10:26 am

Hi, I'm looking for some singles by the synthpop duo Messengers. The tracks I would in particular are:
I Turn In (To You) (12" version)
Great Institutions (7" Version)
Frontiers (7" Version)

I'll remaster any tracks you share and share them back :)

Thanks,
Kaden

Thanks! Those are awesome!

By the way, I've noticed something odd about some of your rips... some of the tracks sound a little distorted/clipped, even though they aren't actually being clipped. Just a sort of scratchiness I guess. I'm not sure, it might something with your record player. Idk if it's possible/worth fixing, so you probably don't need to worry about it. I don't know much about vinyl, so maybe i'm just naive :)

Hmmm. If there's a particular song you need me to rerip, lemme know. If the Messengers collection effected?

Well, I found another Messenger other songs to download to compare, and though their rip has a lot more pops and crackles than yours does, it sounds a bit smoother on the loud parts of the song. Maybe you could try re-ripping I Turn Into You (single edit) at a lower volume? I could compare the two and see if it changes anything. I don't think its the vinyl, since I think I hear the scratchiness on different discs.

Don't hesitate to tell me if this is too much of a hassle for you :P You've already done enough great work to share all these tracks, so please don't feel pressured to worry about it that much :)

Thanks

No it's not that, it's just that the Messengers stuff wasn't ripped by me. Most of the stuff I post was ripped by me, but Messengers came from an unusual source, and I can't do much to change it. I can hunt down an alt I Turn Into You link, if I find one, I'll post it.

Hmmm... that rip is better (though at the wrong speed/pitch--easily fixable though). Did that source just have that song, or were there other Messengers tracks? Thanks for your help. Sometimes it amazes me how different each and every vinyl rip can sound... if only CDs were invented 5 years earlier and were cheap enough by 1980 that even obscure indie new wave artists could use them ;)

Thanks

Is there really a need to "remaster" an mp3 file with such a low resolution as 192 kbps and of such a shoddy quality? If you want to remaster something you need to work with the WAV files, of course.

I'd rather listen to a supposedly "low resolution" mp3 without clicks and scratches than one with. So unless someone wants to start sharing in WAV, mp3 is the best i've got :)

Is there any chance of a re-post of the Messengers collection or maybe someone could upload a better quality rip of I Turn Into You ?

Thanks in advance.

Here you go, xymox.
I ripped these to lossless a while back. Zipped folder, but from memory you should find:

I Turn Into You [7"]
Great Institutions [7"]
Frontiers [12"]

B-sides included.

If there is anything else by Messengers out there in lossless, please post. TIA.

Enjoy! :D
