Big Country In Concert

Postby coop41 » Mon Jun 10, 2013 1:57 pm

So Big Country is playing in Tempe, AZ on June 18th. Anyone seen them lately? I saw them shortly after In A Big Country was a hit as an opener for the English Beat if I recall. They pulled something I have never seen before, they both opened and closed with a full version of In A Big Country. I have never forgiven them. Is it time for me to let it go and see them again?

I would rather hear songs by Mike Peters and not have to look at his face.

I heard a radio ad for the show a couple nights ago, and all I could think is, who are they going to get to replace Stuart Adamson?

And now I know...

http://www.slicingupeyeballs.com/2013/0 ... our-dates/
The reconfigured Big Country — with The Alarm’s Mike Peters filling in for the late frontman Stuart Adamson and the recent addition of original Simple Minds bassist Derek Forbes — will tour the U.S. this June in support of the forthcoming The Journey, the band’s first new album in 14 years, with at least six dates on the two coasts already confirmed.

The band will follow up its already-announced nearly 30-date tour of the U.K. and Europe this spring with a trip to the U.S. Although the band hasn’t officially announced the tour, six concerts in New York, New Jersey and California already are listed on Ticketmaster (see full dates below).

The Journey is out April 8 in the U.K. and April 30 in the U.S.

UPDATE: The band has confirmed more U.S. dates on its website.

Big Country U.S. tour dates:

June 6: The Wonder Bar, Asbury Park, NJ
June 7: Gramercy Theatre, New York, NY
June 8: The Paramount, Huntington, NY
June 19: Belly Up, Solana Beach, CA
June 21: Coach House, San Juan Capistrano, CA
June 22: The Canyon, Agoura Hills, CA
June 23: St. Rock, Redondo, CA
June 28: Wein’s Family Cellars, Temecula, CA
June 29: Updtown Theatre Napa, Napa, CA (with Berlin)
July 10: Belly Up, Aspen, CO
July 13: Belmont, Austin, TX
