this looks beyond horrible. Won't last half a season.

Just saw the latest episode on Apple TV. Expected it to suck but was pleasantly surprised, actually pretty good.

"Sitcoms don't get much better than this. Set in the late '80s and centered around the Goldberg family, the show is chock full of nostalgia, laughs (but no laugh track) and even home videos from the colorful decade provided by creator/writer Adam Goldberg, who based the show on his life. It's got an amazing cast (Wendi McLendon-Covey, Jeff Garlin, George Segal) that successfully delivers comedy and heart without any bad cheese. (Cheese, after all, is delicious.) And best of all, the show has Troy Gentile as middle child Barry, a loser who is so earnest in his endeavors (master of "kahrah-day" and hip-hop maestro, for starters) that you can't help but love him while you laugh at him.

What ABC probably expected to be fairly successful isn't doing so well in the ratings, probably thanks to the highly anticipated but not-very-good "Agents of SHIELD" as its lead-in. But that could be remedied: As dad Murray would say, "Just tune in, you morons!" (Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.)"

I so wanted to like this until halfway into the first episode when they made a Public Enemy reference two years before the band existed.

Yeah... it's a sitcom. Absolute historic accuracy is not it's focus, if you can get past that, it's very funny!

For the record, Public Enemy formed in 82 and attained mainstream success in 87.

I should have been more specific. The reference was to PE's Fight the Power, which was released in 1989. The show is set in 1985.

Anyway, the show gets enough razz without my input.

Cheers and Merry Christmas!

People should take into consideration that this show is made up of memories and fads of the 80s. Each episode begins with "It was 1980-something." The narrator is remembering things without recollection of the actual dates they occurred, thus the "something" when he refers to when the episode takes place. As we get older, we will reminisce, and will often not remember the year things happen, but can remember about what time of the year or even they day/month. This is called getting older. (Hahaha!)

Also, by beginning each episode with "It was 1980-something," every date from January 1, 1980 through December 31, 1989 is open game. This includes story lines, to costuming and set designs. If if happened in the 80s, it can be included in any one episode.

Yeah I think it's called poetic license. Just like there were no undercover Miami cops actually driving Testarossas in the 80s and your chance of getting CPR from a blonde bombshell lifeguard at the beach were nil.

I like it but it is a bit different than the original Goldbergs tv show.
