The Fixx - Red Skies

Postby CharlburyF1 » Mon Jun 22, 2015 6:59 am

Does anybody know if the 7" Edit version of Red Skies released by The Fixx in 1982 has ever been issued on CD? All the versions I have are the album version which is around 50 seconds longer, the 7" Edit clocked in at around 3.30.

Thanks in advance
Rob

No sorry this is the re-recorded version they did before they left MCA. This version appeared on the album "React" released in 1987.

Thanks for the reply

There is a version of Red Skies that clocks in at 3:33 to be found on this compilation:

Checked out the Modern Rock Early '80s album mentioned and indeed on Discogs the track timing would indicate that it was the elusive 7" edit, then checked on Last FM who have the same album only to find the track time listed is the same as on the "Shuttered Room" album around 4.20. Looks like I'm gonna have to find an actual copy of the Modern Rock Early '80s album somewhere and find out for definite!

You are an absolute legend, thanks a million. This is indeed the very edit I owned on vinyl many years ago!

I had a go at extending the album version about 2 1/2 years ago, and got it up to 6min 00sec.

A few years ago I asked for this track and was very grateful after getting a lovely lossless version, unfortunately I have lost it!! Any chance that someone out may still have it and could repost it please.

Many thanks

I thought I'd give it a go and recreate it from the Ultimate Collection CD I have, https://mega.nz/#!5bwwGADL!nqYscGSzXmI8 ... 3AnPc-AQAU
see what you think? Enjoy in wav.

Thank you, Rob. I actually re-created it a few years ago from the "Ultimate Collection". Regardless, very kind of you to share for others.
