Howard Jones Glasgow 20 December 1984 (FM)

freshly transferred from a 33 year old cassette. This came as a tape trade from the original recorder (doubt he's reading this but hello Ronnie, wherever you are). There's some issues due to the age of the tape and a couple of odd bits as it was recorded on a 90 minute tape when broadcast and then transferred to 60 for the trade.

Apollo theatre, Glasgow 20 December 1984 probably radio clyde broadcast as I have loads of theirs, 12 tracks mainly the big hits

http://www26.zippyshare.com/v/hvnNgDf1/file.html

off the top of my head these are a few of the others I have, Liverpool 1983, Aylesbury 1984 fm, leeds 1984 two shows, birmingham 1984, manchester 85 fm, London 84 fm, rome 85 fm, plus a few others.

Would love to hear all of them when you have time and the rare 1987 audience. Thanks for all your work.

ha ha "when you have time " made me laugh, we'll get there eventually. At the moment I'm looking at roughly 1300 cassettes and trying to sort out some sort of order/plan/system.

Hi Eddie
There is no rush.
By the way if you want to archive your files I would recommend FLAC rather than mp3. Mp3 actually reduces the quality of the files. FLAC has a larger file size but better in my view. Just a suggestion as those tapes are very rare.

Here is what I have Howard Jones wise,
FLAC:
BBC Paris Studio 10.5.83 (FM)
Aylesbury 4.7.84 (FM)
Ritz Theatre NYC 6.2.84 (FM)
Columbia,Maryland 18.6.89 (AUD)

MP3:
Marquee Theatre 20.8.83 (Soundboard)
Aylesbury 4.7.84 (Soundboard)
Tokyo 21.4.84 (Soundboard)
Greek Theatre 27.8.84 (Soundboard)
Manchester 15.3.85 (FM)
Manchester 15.3.85 (Soundboard)

I cannot wait to hear the 1987 show as I don't think there are any from that tour in circulation.

Did you trade all your tapes or did actually record some yourself? If you did tape them, any chance you have some uncirculated shows from Depeche Mode?

Thanks
Rob

i don't remember where liverpool came from or how the sound is, both leeds were taped by one of my friends at the time but his tapes have long gone so these have effectively become the masters, aylesbury i recorded off the radio but i remember the reception wasn't great that day. birmingham, no idea probably bought at a record fair, manchester same, london 84 i'd forgotten about until this morning, rome was a trade came from someone in hull, sheffield same as leeds, incomplete for some reason he'd only brought one tape with him, london 87 don't remember, there may be some more but i've been surrounded by police and u2 cassettes all afternoon so i'm not opening any more boxes just yet.

i just had a quick listen to some of them. here's an honest appraisal. London 84 not fm it's ok but nowhere near as good as either of the leeds ones. Birmingham march 1984 is also quite good - to be honest it's probably better than the Glasgow fm I posted. rome 85 is good, not great. Liverpool December 83 was a nice surprise I expected rough but it's very listenable. Sheffield 87 is poor to the point of unlistenable and the albert hall show from 87 isn't a whole lot better although it does seem to be complete or nearly complete.

Any chance of Rome 85. Perhaps in FLAC?

I haven't time and won't have for a very long while. To be honest that's probably all from me.

just picked up a pre-fm of the march 1984 glasgow gig and a paul young pre-fm from 1985 so better than most wednesday afternoons. Only bad thing is they remind you how poor the mix is on a lot of live releases these days.

Would love to hear more of the Liverpool show. Howard Jones at Liverpool Royal Court was my first ever gig as an innocent young 13 year old. Slightly older friends bought tickets for the standing area, so my first experience of a packed show. I still have the concert programme. I've been trying to pinpoint the exact date though. I'm sure Endgames were the support, but the poster for this December show lists Fiat Lux.

Also looking for a copy of the Aylesbury show from April 1984, as my copy got lost when my hard drive failed recently.

Yeah I've got a pre-fm of Aylesbury as well.

Think Endgames might have been support in March 1984. Bumped into your old blog. Nice. That tour programme is the March one. I have the same thing plus all the old 'Risk' magazine and postcards that used to get sent out.

Feel free to pm me a list of what you're able to upload and we'll sort something out. All my Howard stuff is up permanently for safety anyway. Turned out to be a LOT more than I listed/remembered above when I finally got through all the boxes.
