Am I understanding that the further listening discs have also been remastered (the original 2001 further listening discs actually sounded better than the album discs)? I thought the original announcement said only the albums would be remastered. I will definitely check into these to see if it's worth replacing the original sets

I'll never understand why so many artists/labels remain defiant or ignorant about putting out stuff that WAS initially released commercially and that fans have been vocal about wanting on CD for years. It's both a cash cow for them and a must-have for fans. Win-win it would seem.
