Midge Ure - Orchestrated

Midge Ure - Orchestrated

It seems everyone's so concern to when "Pogo and the Sticks" is going to be released on CD, it seems like they failed to notice and mention a wonderful release like, Midge Ure - Orchestrated. It's so beautiful I have tears in my eyes. I wish almost every 80's band would put out their own version of this.

bands seem to be experiment with acoustic, and orchestral versions,
abc,pet shop boys, echo and the bunnymen, simple minds, a-ha, everyone has to do
something different, because they've already got a multitude of greatest
hits, that are tiring to rebuy over and over.

some of these work orchestrally (abc, pet shop boys), some don't work out
that great acoustically (a-ha is terrible, simple minds is decent).

but here midge ure is revisiting ultravox tracks and his own.
it's a hit and miss affair, but the songs that had strong orchestral
ties (vienna) work out great.

at least its nice to see some experimentation instead of the same
tracks over and over again.

here is my brief review of the album
------------------------------------------
hymn - very slow tempo, ok
dancing with tears in my eyes - very minimal, slow tempo
breathe - slow start, but midtempo pickups around chorus, ok
man of two worlds - excellent version, with the duo, just about the right tempo
if i was - great version, right tempo
vienna - excellent version, just right, although it has non orchestral sounds
the voice - well done, good approximation of the sounds, excellent vocals, very intense
ordinary man - slow ballad, ok
death in the afternoon - slowed down tempo, very dramatic, picks up at chorus, good
lament - excellent all around, great sound and slightly slowed down tempo, some non orchestral sounds
reap the wild wind - excellent sound and tempo
fragile - slow, moody song, picks up energy at the end, ok

so, after what appears to be a very slow start from the first few tracks
i wasn't too excited about the prospects of it.

then several good songs came up, with very good versions.

overall, as far as it goes, if you're in the mood for some alternate
versions, you will like it. midge's voice is great, and he can still
some of the notes like in the past. and its good to finally hear some
lesser played songs (at least to me), from their past.

'if i was' is the best midge ure track on there, the other ones aren't
as prominent to me.

i enjoyed it, but its not for everyone, if you liked the originals
only, stick with those.

After reading this “review” of yours, I’m wondering if you are a master of brevity or are you just unable to express yourself in a coherent sentence? Some believe that the written word is far more eloquent and expressive than when spoken. That being said, I can just picture the little tiny spit bubbles that form at the corners of your mouth as you fumble and mince words so desperately trying to covey your perils of wisdom for an audience of none. You sir, are a master at your “Craft”

your so called 'note' of the album barely even mentions it, and doesn't convey any information whatsover about it to anyone that would care to listen to it.

at least i address the tracks, and all their flaws.

Keep paddling "Corky", your mother will soon be in to drain the tub for you.
Trapped in your delusions of grandeur, she will reward you with a cookie
and confirm your real position as the captain of a ship of fools.

well for someone with 7 posts on this board(3 in this thread) and maybe being around for 1 month, its good to know you will never amount to any kind of presence here on this forum.

Just to let you know, this is my 5th user name I've had since coming to this forum back in 97 or 98 (when ever NWO began). Unlike you I don't need a "presence" or social media to validate my existence. Shout out to anyone that might remember synthpop network or New Wave Complex.

This is a baffling exchange here — but that's some impressively desperate preening from someone who doesn't need any kind of validation. Thanks for the track listing, negative1.
