The bonus tracks look good on both of them. The remastering is from 2016 which is very good.

Those 2016 remasters were definitely not great, and brickwalled to a good extent. It's good to see that they are finally including the Hello Again 12" mix, but in anticipation for the release I just got a copyright claim notice through youtube from Warners pulling my posting of the 12" mix from my page. A bit of a heavy handed approach but whatever. Previous to this I had the standard copyright notice stating that Warners owns the track but were allowing it to remain posted, like most other copyright notices.

Still no Hello Again (Dub Version) (6:02min.). Never released on CD and was a very good opportunity to do it now...

I am not really a fan of the 2016 Ted Jensen remasters. The first album, especially, sounds really harsh to my ears. "Heartbeat City", on the other hand, sounds the best of the bunch, in my opinion. Overall, something about the 2016 mastering just seems off to me. I suppose that they are just too harsh and too bright. I ended up downloading the 2014 HDTracks masters, which seem to be flat transfers of the original master tapes. I ended up tweaking these files myself but decided against dynamic compression. Jensen has done some good work in the past, but his remasters tend to be too harsh more often than not. I wish that The Cars' back catalog had been given to someone else to remaster.

Thank You -1 :)

This is what I call a good vinyl rip.

Apparently there is an edit of the dub also, that is 5m:02sec from the European 7 inch.
I should be getting that in a few weeks. All the other 7 inch versions featured the full dub.

Got the german 7 inch of 'hello again', it turns out the edit of the dub version
on the b-side is 1 minute shorter than the 12 inch version.

So this is no real 'unique' of rather different version (which often was the case with 7 inch and 12 inch dubs in the 80s). Just shorter, that's all.

Correct, it's just a shorter edit.

these are out now.

all the extra tracks are on youtube, and spotify to check out.

the demo versions are ok. some are pretty much the same as the album versions.

the b-sides are pretty cool, and yes a couple of remixes also.
