Feel very sorry to say this, but this boxset is more targeted towards the 'younger fans' who don't have that much psysical DM themselves and want to make a more 'complete' studio colection. But then again, they probably can't afford this set. Older fans like me already have this stuff (that's to say 95 percent of it!) so I'm not gonna fork this money out of my wallet for (almost) nothing new except a few tracks. Again, a weird decision was made for this one.

I had hoped that finally they would decide to continue the DMBX singles boxsets with 7, 8 & 9. That would've made my day.

I just wish they would release all of their albums up to Ultra as instrumental albums. I would buy that in a heartbeat.

Totally pointless release - nothing for the hardcore fan and too expensive for the casual.

Nice box of course. But yes who is the targeted audience? Most certainly older fans who collect everything. Only two tracks that have not been released on CD yet (Sometimes I Wish I Was Dead "Flexi-Pop" Version & Dressed in Black "Record Mirror" Version) plus one edit (Oh Well single version) and a live performance of David Bowie's Heroes 2017 which is already on youtube. As I went through the list of the tracks on the four extra CDs, I noticed that while there was some thought behind it, many tracks were omitted (live tracks, single versions, some B-sides, not to mention extended versions) (but a couple of extended versions were actually included!) and also not entirely chronologically, so it seemed a bit randomly put together. I guess it was rushed for the Xmas market. I wonder who compiled it? In any case I hope that there will be full, expanded versions of all albums, including all the demos and unreleased tracks, put together nicely. CD 1 the original LP, CD 2 the B-sides and extra tracks, CD 3 unreleased but finished tracks, CD 4 demos, etc, whatever is appropriate for that album. /JW

If this was released in SACD, it would be like $500.

I still don't know who that doesn't have most of this already would dish out $170-$200 for this box set??? The younger kids aren't going to buy it.

i'll buy it... someday. used.

as a collector, i buy multiple items to fill out collections, and have them around.

sure, i might not ever listen to them, but maybe i'd look at the book of lyrics once.

its just something to get, although i dont' like most of the albums after black celebration.
i already have all the originals, and remasters too.

i got the x1,x2 boxsets for cheap (half the original price) many years after they came out.
same with the singles boxsets, got them all for cheap way after they came out.

same thing will happen with this.

Agree with above comments. This doesn't seem like a well-thought out box set. A comprehensive box set of their b-sides/non-album tracks including remixes of the b-sides similar to The Cure's Join The Dots would have been welcomed.
