I now have all the Visage masters and have been working on the remastering. I'm thrilled about The Anvil. The One Way CD is very thin and awful. When comparing to the original tape transfers, it's clear that CD used excessive noise reduction and completely flattened the detail out. This is the first time I've ever been able to hear the album with all the little details, and it's coming out wonderfully.

I am going to be placing an ad in Classic Pop Magazine when these come out, to help give my label a little more exposure. Hope it pays off!

Great! How about the Cherry Red 2008 remastering? And will "your" bonus tracks be different? Thanks!

Cherry Red just used the One Way CD and then tacked on vinyl transfers for some of the bonus tracks.
Yes, mine will have more appropriate bonus tracks. I've got the test CD in my car right now and it's 79 minutes exactly.

Thanks to Rubellan for bringing some order into VISAGE CDs! :)
It must have been difficult to select from these 12 bonus contenders.
(But perhaps some will be bonus tracks on THE SINGLES COLLECTION - SPECIAL DANCE MIX ALBUM)

Motivation [full length 12"] 3.47 (B-side 12" The Damned Don't Cry)
The Damned Don't Cry (Dance Mix) 5.46
I'm Still Searching 3.37 (B-side Night Train)
Night Train (Dance Mix) 6.07
Night Train (Dub Mix) 5.02
Pleasure Boys 3.34 (non-LP single)
The Anvil (Remix) 4.26 (B-side Pleasure Boys)
Pleasure Boys (Dance Mix) 6.56
The Anvil (Dance Mix) 6.14
Der Amboss 5.37
Der Amboss (Dub/Instrumental) 4.16
Pleasure Boys (Bonus Beats) 6.03
(I am not even counting the Japanese single edit of "Whispers")

A lot of that will be accounted for across both CD's but not everything. There are a couple of previously unreleased mixes that are being included. I'm probably going to announce full track listings very soon, even if a couple of tracks are not yet confirmed cleared. I had to make a couple of changes because there was a master that indicated it contained an unreleased extended mix of Moon Over Moscow. When the tape was transferred it turned out just the be the regular album version, so I had to submit a couple of changes.

Visage - The Anvil track listing revealed!

1. The Damned Don’t Cry 4:45
2. Anvil (night club school) 4:40
3. Move Up 4:27
4. Night Train 4:31
5. The Horseman 4:43
6. Look What They’ve Done 4:51
7. Again We Love 4:46
8. Wild Life 4:27
9. Whispers 5:41

Bonus Tracks
10. Motivation 3:46
11. I’m Still Searching 3:38
12. We Move (usa single remix - previously unreleased) 3:43
13. The Damned Don’t Cry (dance mix) 5:43
14. Night Train (dance mix) 6:08
15. The Anvil (dance mix) 6:13
16. Pleasure Boys (dance mix) 6:55

Everything has been remastered from beautiful new transfers of the original master tapes. Note that some other associated mixes may be on the Dance Mix CD. I hope to reveal that track listing soon.

The USA single remix of We Move is a previously unreleased mix that was set for the U.S. market to coincide with the dance mix EP that was the first place to find the extended mix of Fade To Grey. I got the master when sources were being researched for the debut CD reissue from last year, and immediately noticed the difference. In corresponding with a Visage fan who had original newsletters from back in the day, he found mention of this planned single, which was ultimately shelved. The article mentioned Malpaso Man was the B side, and that's exactly what the master tape had on it, though it's the same as the LP version, just faded before the next track.

Regarding track 12, when you say "single remix", you mean "single edit of the dance remix" ? Or does it sound different from the 12" mix?

No, it's a unique mix. The closest I can compare it is the portion at the end of the Special Dance Mix album. If you listen to the version on that album, towards the end the song sounds dramatically different than it did for the bulk of the song. That end bit sounds closest to the unreleased single version.

Interesting, so chronologically it belongs somewhere in between VISAGE and THE ANVIL.
(There is also the 1983 Remix from THE SINGLES COLLECTION !) Many versions!
PS
Maybe a proper "VISAGE - THE SINGLES" CD would be possible too, to assemble all singles, in their original single version,
chronologically. RUBELLAN sound quality.

12 basic tracks, plus a selection/suggestion for possible extra tracks:

Tar [1979 Single Version] 3.25
Frequency 7 (3.05) (B-side Tar)
Fade To Grey [Single Version] 3.49
Mind of a Toy [Single Version] 3.32
Visage (Single Remix) 3.47
We Move [US Single Remix] 3.43
The Damned Don't Cry [Single Version] 3.55
Night Train (Single Remix) 3.39
Pleasure Boys 3.34
The Anvil (Remix) 4.26 (B-side Pleasure Boys)
Love Glove [Single Version] 4.00
Beat Boy [Single Version] 3.30

Bonus tracks:
In the Year 2525 3.45
Whispers [Japanese Single Edit] 3.47
Ronny: If You Want Me to Stay 4.17
Ronny: If You Want Me to Stay (Instrumental - Edit) 4.50
We Move (1983 Remix) 3.45 (from FADE TO GREY: THE SINGLES COLLECTION)
Night Train (New Edit) 3.58 (from FADE TO GREY: THE SINGLES COLLECTION)
Love Glove (Instrumental) 3.24
Beat Boy (Special Mix) 3.20
Fade To Grey (1993 Bassheads 7" Edit) 3.22 [remixed by Bassheads/Andy Stevenson]
Fade To Grey (1993 7" Remix) 3.37 [remixed by Tim Wedge/Daryl Stickley]

Visage - Fade To Grey: Special Dance Mix Album track listing revealed:

1. FADE TO GREY 6:22
2. MIND OF A TOY 5:11
3. VISAGE 5:33
4. WE MOVE (REMIX) 3:34
5. TAR 3:28
6. IN THE YEAR 2525 3:40
7. THE ANVIL 4:57
8. NIGHT TRAIN 6:24
9. PLEASURE BOYS 3:27
10. THE DAMNED DON’T CRY 5:37

BONUS TRACKS
11. FREQUENCY 7 3:05
12. NIGHT TRAIN (7” REMIX) 3:42
13. DER AMBOSS 4:37
14. PLEASURE BOYS (BONUS BEATS) 5:50
15. NIGHT TRAIN (DUB MIX) 5:03

When the original Visage singles collection was released in late 1983 featuring many of the original single versions, the cassette edition was a special dance mix release (which was later released on a very limited edition vinyl pressing). It contained a number of extended remixes leading one into the other for a non-stop experience. Along with the remixes, a couple of additional curiosities were included. Where as the standard edition included the remix of Tar from the debut album and a John Hudson remixed version of the early demo In The Year 2525, the dance mix album contained the original single mix of Tar and the original mix of 2525, though sequed into a unique mix of The Anvil. The dance mix album also originally included Der Amboss as a bonus track. This will be the first time this edition has ever been released on CD, and remastered from original master tapes.

Great news. But why is "Der Amboss" placed after the album like a bonus track?
Yes, I know it was labelled "Bonus track" on the original cassette, but that was a "selling point" and was referring to the fact
that it was not on the vinyl counterpart. Also, it was indeed placed as track 6, the last track on side A of the cassette, within the album concept.
(Note that it is 1 minute shorter than the original 1982 vinyl counterpart.)

Der Amboss on my vinyl LP is the same length and the version included was the one on the master tape. I think the longer version was just from that German promo 12". The reason I moved it from its #6 position was because The Anvil would be #8 and that would have been too close repetition. Since it was a 'bonus track' on the cassette/special LP, I moved it to the bonus section. I think the position helps to provide a better flow.
