Sounds like Amazon "accidentally" posted SOTT Deluxe then removed the listing soon after. I've been reading on the Steve Hoffman forum about it. What I've gathered from posts there is it will (possibly) be officially announced on June 25th and will be an 8CD +1DVD set as well as a set featuring vinyl. Those are just the overall details I recall offhand. Sounds like release date is either Sept 18 or Sept 25.

I'm a Prince fan, but not entrenched enough to know all the bootleg and extensive unreleased catalog. But I have enjoyed all the "unheard" material recently released in the Purple Rain and 1999 sets, even though my main draw was the albums themselves and the associated Bsides and 7"/12" versions. From the track listing purported to have been leaked, sounds like my personal wantlist will be satisfied indeed!

I saw the track listing on Facebook that this guy has posted. Seems quite impressive but don’t know if it’s official yet.

According to info at imwan yesterday, "Press release should go out tomorrow." (25 June). There are lots and lots of unreleased tracks and alternative mixes from that period (Dec 1985 - early 1987).

sarcasm// Would be great if Warner Bros went back to their hot idea of packaging each disc in its own jewel case. //sarcasm
Idiots. I'm ranting because a few months ago, I found a copy of disc two (possibly original pressing) at a thrift store, but disc one was nowhere to be seen. At least I got the disc with "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man".

Re: Prince “Sign O The Times” Super Deluxe

Have been following this and I'm of two minds. I got the SDLX of "Purple Rain." Excellent, if on the modest side for his top seller. I'd have expected at least 5 discs covering that period where he blew up commercially. But the set was highly affordable at <$40 for 3xCD + DVD.

"1999" SDLX came out in December of last year when I was saving for a UK trip that didn't happen. My fave Prince period is his New Wave/Funk era from "Dirty Mind" through "1999." Can't get enough of it. "Uptown" and "Dirty Mind" alerted me to Prince and "Controversy" made me a fan. This was 5xCD + DVD for $60. Saving for that trip in March, so I had to wait to buy it. I monitored its availability in the Prince webstore through Jan.-Feb. In March the **** hit the fan with Covid-19 and I cancelled my trip to the UK. Lost the plot as life shifted and I worked from home for almost two months. Two weeks ago I got a notification from my Discogs feed telling me that a dealer had the "1999" SDLX for $80. A red light went off and I checked it out to see it was already now sold out in the official store. At Discogs the lowest price on a box was $105, so I bought it right then and there. I've been listening to it for the last week or so and it's fantastic. The disc of 7" mixes and B-sides is a little much, but I approve of such canonical completion. The two discs of Vault material were every bit as good as what filtered out on "Purple Rain" SDLX. The live album lets me hear the concert tour that I was unable to attend in 1982, so no regrets whatsoever on spending $105 for this. But I didn't have time to save up my discretionary budget {$20/paycheck] to buy this. Time was of the essence. So I used credit that I've only half paid off thus far.

But…

I've seen the rumors of a $150 cost for SOTT SDLX and though I want it, it's crossing a line into territory where I just cannot go casually, if at all. I like SOTT but it's by no means my favorite Prince period, so there's that too. A $150 Controversy with 9 discs - hell yeah. It seems like we've been charged $10/disc for the first two SDLX sets. If this is <$100 I'll probably bite. I just wish that they would space them out more gradually. I still don't have the live box from February that I also want. Not to mention the "Versace Experience" CD. I'm afraid that we are entering the Prince event horizon where all I can afford to buy are Prince release as they get bigger, more numerous, and more expensive. If I had to listen to only one artist, he's a great choice, though.

Plenty of details now on Superdeluxedition.com. The 3 cd version appeals the most to me.

Well, I just got the email from the estate. It really is $160 for the CD box; too rich for my blood. Super Deluxe Price. 120 page hardcover book so I'm imagining a 12" x 12" box with everything that they can use for CD and LP editions.

The 3-CD +DVD "Deluxe" of Purple Rain that came out in 2017 was very moderately priced, and great value.
Prince had compiled it himself, so I guess the additional tracks and videos would not have been enough today,
as there are many more tracks from that period. The 1999 deluxe was a little pricier, about 10 USD/disc,
but not too pricey, and also sold out. This time the price is way up there! I believe four of the 8 CDs are only half full
(CD 1,2 and the live concert). I love the content but very pricey! A strictly limited edition, too, so it may sell out fast.
It's the seller's market.

Also 3CD version for me. That's more than enough money spent on SOTT. Also have the Deluxe set for Purple Rain and the 2CD version of 1999.

I only got the 2cd version of Purple Rain and missed out on 1999 altogether. But will definitely get SOTT and Around The World.../Parade/Lovesexy whenever they come out.

I am currently grooving on the 1999 box and yeah, it was worth the $105 I paid for it. But…but… I'm still paying it off. Don't dangle this in front of me. Three Vault discs! They got me bad.

That’s a given with Prince’s reissues. There’s so much stuff with each coinciding era that box sets are essential. Be prepared to spend $500-$1000 over the next few years if you want to grab all the deluxe box sets. I’m sure Around The Word/Parade/Lovesexy/Graffiti Bridge will all be super deluxe sets.
