It's Immaterial "House For Sale" out September 2020

Here's great news: It's Immaterial's new album has arrived!
Its name has been known for a while: House For Sale.

After a wonderful first album "Life's Hard and Then You Die", they had released a very intimate second one which reminds me of David Sylvian's "Gone to Earth" CD1 !!! very unsettling but also very beautiful.
Here is the last one, out of the bankruptcy of Pledge Music, the band held the project until the end. And the end was long since its history goes back 30 years...
I haven't listened to it yet but I'm sure it's as elegant as the "Autumn In The Neighbourhood" by the China Crisis, also from Liverpool.
How happy I am!

Loving the new album. As Callum Malcolm produced and engineered the 1992 tapes, it slots fairly close to "Song" in sound. There are still strong wafts of imperial period Blue Nile though Campbell's tone is unique. But the band have made new recordings to finish the songs off almost 30 years later. Only "Downriver" shows any hint of "seams" in the tracks as the verse/chorus had differing EQ from the sound of it. The appearance of female backing vocals was unexpected. The songs are still magical.

A litle disapointed by this album. I'm a big fan of "song", one of my top 20 album. On the new album, sometimes the voice is not that good and certain reworked version are not that great. The 2001 unofficial "house for sale" album is the one who should have been released this year. The perfect following for "song" and much much better than this 2020 release.
