For almost $70 i might wait a bit. Hope these are brand new remasters for the cds, although the previous ones from 2004 weren't bad either.

It seems that a few mixes got left out. I’m wondering if the Life In Tokyo (Steve Nye Remix) is the same as the 1982 remix that appeared on Assemblage and the compilation A Souvenir From Japan?

From Japan expert Paul Rymer:

Quiet Life Japanese 7” version has never been on CD
Life In Tokyo Theme Moroder mix is new - kind of. It’s the 1982 b-side at the proper pitch.
The Budokan show is previously unreleased - the 4 tracks from the live EP on the other disc are from this show but different mixes.

of the rest, the remix 7” versions of European Son and Second That Emotion were only previously on the Japanese Singles comp which was deleted decades ago. The other remixes are only now available on various artists comps.

The only things “missing” are some of the remixes of Tokyo, and another couple of edits of Quiet Life. The original mix of Second That Emotion isn’t featured but it’s so common on other CDs that it’s no loss.

That and the Tokyo mixes missing, plus the original single of European Son and the ‘81 Quiet Life edit makes me think there might be another reissue of Assemblage on the cards if this does well. Those missing edits and mixes, plus a couple of other things related to the first 2 albums might make that viable in terms of content. I doubt it though.

If you are really picky you could argue that the clean edit of Alien from the b-side of European Son is missing but if the CD indexing is done well that’s no loss. One thing I’m keen to hear is how the remaster handles the transition between All Tomorrow’s Parties and Alien. The original doesn’t have the former track fade out completely before Alien starts. This is also a feature of the live show which had the synth ending of All Tomorrow’s Parties before Alien.

Why are they bundling the LP and CD together like this?

Vinyl listeners won't get the bonus material, and CD listeners are obliged to buy an LP they don't need.

I've searched for a place where this is for sale so I can at least see the price. Where is it on pre-sale?

Preorder links have all gone dead. Waiting for a new date to be announced.

I hate to spend this much on a piece when the vinyl is useless to me. I wouldn't be surprised if the cds got released separately after the fact but I don't want to miss out altogether by taking that chance.

I don't know how much versions on vinyl and CD I own from this iconic album.
Although it was released in Dec 1979 it came to my mind in 1980 which makes 1980 for me one of the best years in music history ever.

The live concert and the few new versions on cd are reason enough for me to buy this boxset.

burningshed.com has an official release date 05-03-21 (I'm guessing that's March 5th 2021) in the US. All bundles available.

Some are saying the concert is cleaned up audience recording.
