OMD reunite on German television - May 31, 2005

Postby Arcadia » Thu Jun 09, 2005 6:18 pm

That's right kiddos, Paul Humphreys, Andy McCluskey, Stuart Kershaw, and Mal Holmes came back together for the first time in a looooooong time to perform "Maid Of Orleans" on a German tv show. It was filmed on May 31st, but will not air until August. Paul Young, Sandra, Nena, Hubert Kah, and Maggie Reilly also performed. Pet Shop Boys were on the slate but couldn't make it.

Perhaps this little reunion is the beginning of something good?

Unfortunately I did not see the name of the program anywhere. Most of my info came from german OMD sites, and my German is not so good.

From the Official OMD Website:-

"The band will be doing Maid Of Orleans for The Ultimate Chart Show on RTL recorded in Cologne. The show will feature a rundown of the 50 top selling acts from the 80's in Germany based on their weeks in the singles charts for that decade. The show will also feature the likes of Paul Young and Maggie Reilly.

The performance will be recorded at the end of May, but will actually be broadcast mid-June."

From the OMD website

'An update on the forthcoming broadcast of the German TV show: The makers of the programme are delaying the airing of the show based on the strength of the content and that they don't want to "waste it" in the quiet Summer TV schedules. More news as we get it.'

I hope OMD will reunite for good.

Some trivia: Did you know Andy McCluskey is the man responsible for teen girlie trio Atomic Kitten? I don't think I can ever forgive him for that LOL

I felt the same way when I first heard about that but have you seen the three girls from Atomic Kitten? Just think if you were Andy, wouldn't you want those three girls to be walking into your studio everyday to record songs with you. [;)]

I think this would make Andy quite an intelligent man. He's making tons of money with this act.

Thanks for posting the picture whistledog. [:D] I guess this would be a cool subject for another post. What New Wave act is making more money now doing some other form of music?
