"Faded Roses In The Neon" - Classique Classique
off of their 1982 deput LP: 'Blush On The Cheeks'.....
Classique Classique was formed in 1980 in Upston On Tyne just west of Birkenhead Fountain in Dundinstonshire. Formed by Lead Singer Taffty Lummox (who later changed his name to 'Steve') sought out other like minded musicians. Initially influence by The Velvet Underground, Roxy Music, David Bowie and of course Styx.
They played initially at their mums garden parties, but soon found themeselves playing at other peoples garden parties. Culminating with the unforgetable Leedstonshire Garden Party 82 gig where they stole the show, as well as mounds of high Tea sandwhiches and 'Streaky Beef'. "We played alot of garden parties" Steve said.
Classique Classiques minor hit "Faded Roses In The Neon" reached number 79 in the UK charts for one week, and then immediately evaporated into the ether. They are currently residing in the "Why were they here" catagory.
