Although rules are only meant to be broken, I have found certain rules or priorities that make a good music video, forgoing the obvious need for film quality and sound.
1. Appearance of the actual artist/band in some sync with the video plot.
2. Actual lip sync of the singing artist.
3. Actual band playing.
4. A plot that coincides with the energy or theme of the song.
I find these rules the most important to myself when viewing retro videos. I need to see the artist in their prime. What do you think?
