Funny how a song can stick in your mind (courtesy of radio or video play) and then compels you to go out and get the the single (in this case a short lived MTV vid showing translated into a '45 purchase @Recordworld back in 1984)

Case in point: Van Stephenson's 'Modern Day Delilah' from his <a href="http://www.geocities.com/black-hawk.geo/vansolo/vs2.html" target="blank">Righteous Anger LP</a>
This wistful NW 80's top 40 track starts out with a gentle plucking of electric guitar strings, high hat taps with some swooshing synth flourishes that quickly launches into an infectious, driving powerpop ballad about a treasonous hairstylist .

Sadly, Van is <a href="http://www.geocities.com/black-hawk.geo/van.html" target="blank">no longer with us</a> and I was surprised to read about his <a href="http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:84rc28gc055a~T1" target="blank">notable country music creds</a>.

The '45 disc is still in a crate somewhere collecting dust since I haven't played any vinyl in 5 years. Thanks to the hub (and recall from my vast mp3 wishlist) this great tune is now in my digital audio collection. [8D]

I have always loved this song, Modern Day Delilah and associate it wit Nik Kershaw's Wouldn't it be good, cause the first time I heard it was in the color darkroom in college at Kent State. Great song.

Thanks for the file download. I'd completely forgotten about this song. I loved it when it was out. Sorry to hear that he'd died of cancer. It's a shame.
