Yeah, I know, it's not really a concert and, uh, definately not new wave, but it'll be the first time I've seen this one. I really can't wait. It's being done by Teatro Lirico D'Europa. This particular troup is supposed to be very classic, over the top, play to the full schmaltz that opera was meant to be! "O Suave Fanciulla..." [:p]

What do people thing about opera? Am I crazy? Love it? Hate it? Seen any good ones yourself?

Huge opera fan here. I subscribe to Seattle and Portland and go to the Met when I make it to NYC. I love everything from Puccini schmaltz to Wagner's Ring cycle (recently performed to great acclaim here in Seattle). Gotta motor right now but feel free to e-mail me. The show should be great, Blir.

If you're into it, I think one trick is to find a small but professional local theatre that puts on their own shows and hosts traveling troupes. Usually pretty reasonable. We're pretty lucky on Connecticut's central shore to have both the Garde Art Theater in New London and the Goodspeed Opera House in the next town over from me. The latter also has a killer setting on the CT River that'll knock your socks off in the fall...

Some of it is pomp and circumstance. I'd love to dust off a dashing tuxedo, have an equally dashing dame by my side, and step out of one of those old strange cars, and into the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion[8D] I could always put on a pair of pleated khakis, a decent button-up shirt, and drive myself to the South Coast Repertoir, or even The Pantages[8D]
