Thanks to Medication's latest CD, I've heard this new band "Morningwood" and I can't get their catchy stuff out of my head! Particularly "Nth Degree". Here's a video clip (spotted on someone's blog) of "Nth Degree" (scroll down under the pic, you'll be able to click on it):

Anyway, they're coming to Albuquerque in 2 weeks, with the Sounds, and even though it's a weekday night, I'll probably go b/c it's during my Spring Break!

I've always felt kind of guilty for liking this song so much. After seeing the video, I feel a lot better about it. Thanks!

What does "Nth Degree" remind you of? "Pop Muzik" by M? Something about this song, particularly the vocals, triggers the vaguest of memories . . . ? Anybody?

That's the million dollar question that's been bugging me too. I think it's just quite an amalgam. There's just a touch of U2 "Where the streets have no name" guitar strumming, even some hair-metal histrionic screeching, and I dare say some "hello barbie, let's go party" beat to it. I know, not pretty, but the sum of the parts isn't too horrible.

There's better out there in the current crop though, imho.

Yeah, Blir, I'm with you on this one (I seem to say that a lot) [;)]

I just aquired the album in preperation for the show here on April 21 with The Sounds. Morningwood seem like a fun band more interested in putting on a good show than saving the world. Nth Degree IS the standout track on the album, and what a stand out it is. Should be a great show with both bands.

On a related note, I'm not digging the new Sounds album as much as their first. Another victim of the dreaded Second Album Syndrome.

Oops, I guess I'm not a very good scout. I sort of forgot about the show last night in Albuq. (*slaps self*). Sorry, guys. I had it marked on my calendar and everything, but by the time last night rolled around, it had totally slipped my mind. Plus, I had no-one to go with, which is usually the case.

I'm still digging "Nth Degree", (for which hexicon's and Blir's comments seems right on-- ), but I'm not sure about their other stuff. It's a little sloppy and careless punk rock, but they do sound like they're having fun.
