Looks like the Cars are getting back together, but without Ric Ocasek.
Any thoughts?
The tour is supposed to include Blondie as well.

Todd Rundgren? I'm baffled. I hope Debbie & co goes on first so I can get the f out of there when The Jalopies take to the stage.

This is one of the biggest disgraces imaginable. I think Ric
should do it simply to save his legacy. Just think of all those
wonderful songs and a legacy of a truly unique combination of
musicians all thrown down the toilet. Thanks Elliot!
And Greg Hawkwes, who has been so loyal to Ric through the years. What is he thinking? What about Rundgren? He is just in a Cars cover band now singing someone elses songs that he didn't even write. Who wants to be in a cover band at his age? What is the point for him? He is simply playing Ric Ocasek in a Cars cover band. The whole legacy of the Cars is gone. I am a huge
Ocasek disciple and apologist admittedly. But come on!

[/quote]First, they are billing themselves as "The New Cars", so the legacy of The Cars shouldn't be harmed. Second, this entire effort apparently has the blessing of Ric Ocasek (who I'm sure will be getting a substantial cut). And finally, to answer your question as to why Rundgren would do this at his age, he has apparenlty been quoted as stating he is doing it for the money. With all that said, I actually like the new single quite a bit.

Man, you're blown!
You're exactly the kind of sap they hope will buy their tickets. You go listen to the new single and I'll play my copy of "Candy-O".
Boooooo
