Here is more about this Aug 5, 2006 show that I got from Bobby Imsolucki

CONTRACTIONS, SYMPTOMS, MICROWAVES TRIPLE BILL AUGUST 5TH AT CAFE DU NORD
East Bay Ray to Present “Dummy” Award to Dirk Dirksen

The Contractions, The Symptoms, and David Javelosa of Los Microwaves perform in a triple bill at San Francisco’s Cafe Du Nord on Saturday, August 5th. The newly formed Fab Mab Musical Graduates Coalition, headed by East Bay Ray of the DKs, will present the Mabuhay Gardens’ erstwhile empresario Dirk Dirksen with a DUMMY AWARD.
David Javelosa will open the show at 9pm, playing his signature synth-pop with guest musicians. His sound represents a fusuion of synth-pop ballads, vintage analogue sound, “lo-fi” game music and experimental techno grooves. His recordings have included veteran musicians Robert Williams of Capt. Beefheart and Knox Chandler of the Psychedlic Furs, among others.
Headliners The Contractions play at 10pm with a highly-charged set of originals. This power trio is in the process of compiling a new CD, playing and recording together again, and brewing up more of their on-stage magic. Ira Robbins of Trouser Press once declared them a “criminally underrated female trio with great material... an excellent rock band."
The Symptoms take the stage at 11pm. Their music suits their subject/lyrics perfectly, pulsating razor sharp riffs with a lyrical content that manifests the angst, intelligence and pure fun of the scene back in 1979 and today. A new CD recorded in 2006 SYMPTOMS—RELAPSE, will be debuted at the Café Du Nord event.
Dirk’s Dummy Award will be presented at an undisclosed time during the evening -- you’ll just have to come for the whole show not to miss it.
The Cafe Du Nord is located at 15th and Market St SF Admission price is $15. For more information go to www.cafedunord.com.
