New Wave Outpost Forum

One of the most New Wave bands out there today IMHO. Definitely in my current top 5 bands. Great synth and bass lines, jittery dancy structures with an edge, plus a very sexy lead in Emily Haines. She never fails to impress folks with how charismatic she is live compared to photos or video. There's also great news that their fantastic but unreleased first album from 2001, Grow Up and Blow Away, has finally gotten its release:

Metric at Webster Hall...very disappointing. I really don't know what their thought process was tonight. Lots of noisey, straight-ahead head-banging. Little of the edgy guitar-n-keyboard pop craft that I think is their signature. Lots of folks walking out mumbling that they didn't even play many of their good songs. Way too much posturing for the already-enthusiastic audience to get even more involved and sing along to a bunch of crap. Fuck that...I paid to see [i]them[/i] sing. I can't really recommend the rest of their tour if it's going to be like this. I love live music...it's pretty rare when I come out of concert with this little joy.
